FAQ’s

Clinical Peels

  • Clinical Peels work by breaking down proteins in the skin, removing abnormal and damaged cells and allowing the skins natural functions to replace them with healthier more structured cells. Depending on the depth of the peel used, stimulation of inflammation within the skin can stimulate baby collagen formation, creating a thicker healthier skin.

  • This completely depends on the strength of peel used. Some peels you will walk out with completely glowing fresh skin ready for a special event, some of our more advanced peels you can experience 3-5 days of light to moderate shedding or peeling of the skin.
The down time is very minimal and most people feel comfortable enough to go back to work the next day. You may also wear a mineral makeup if needed.
It’s important to follow any aftercare advice given and to not pick at any skin that is shedding or peeling as this can lead to risks of pigmentation or even scarring and infection.
Your skin will be more susceptible to UV rays; therefore, it is important to protect your skin with a SPF 30+.

  • Skin improvements take time and with clinical peels the results are subtle however, you will achieve continuous improvements by completing a course of 3-6 treatments. Most clients find that their skins texture improves and they have achieved a healthier glowing skin after just one treatment and find that this lasts for 2-4 weeks.
To ensure long lasting results it is recommended to have ongoing maintenance along with using medical grade skincare routine.

Biore Peel

  • BioRePeel is suitable for all skin types, colours, and ages. It’s excellent for people with:
    • Acne-prone, congested skin.
    • Skin with pigmentation and scarring (old or new).
    • Those seeking to prevent ageing, as it contains essential amino acids and vitamins.
    • Young skin during acute stages of acne, blackheads, or recent scarring.

Cosmelan Depigmentation PeelSystem

  • It is essential that a thorough consultation is performed prior to the treatment and that you are fully aware of the homecare protocol.
Once we have determined whether you are the right candidate, the in clinic treatment can be applied.

Your face will be cleansed and a degreasing solution will be applied to ensure the skin is clean and clear of any oils, dirt and impurities.
Cosmelan mask is then applied which is nude/brown in colour and has a thick consistency. This is left on the skin for 8-12 hours depending on the severity of your pigmentation and skin type. It is recommended that you come to the clinic the morning of treatment as it is best to NOT sleep with this on. During this time you may experience a slight tingle and the mask can crack in some places, if this occurs you can just dab or spray a little water over the area.

Once the time is up you simply wash the mask off either in the shower or a basin. Here you may feel (some may not) a slight tingle, tightness and potential redness.

The next day and up to two weeks following, is when you will develop swelling, tightness and peeling with a stinging sensitive sensation when applying the homecare products. It is imperative that you follow the strict homecare protocol to achieve the desired results.

  • Cosmelan has a 95% success rate and most clients experience a dramatic improvement after completing just one treatment. Results can be dependent on a range of factors such as homecare application, SPF use, time spent outdoors and hormonal changes (pregnancy, birth control, other hormonal conditions)
Every skin responds differently when treating pigmentation. Some people feel they are happy with just a one off treatment and some with more stubborn pigment find repeating the treatment every one to two years to achieve optimal results.

  • After the treatment and you have removed treatment mask some people can experience swelling, redness and tightness. This generally happens from day 1-3. From this point your skin may start to feel very tight and dry and applying the aftercare routine can feel stingy on application. (A hand held fan can come in useful) Generally on day three your skin will begin to peel and flake off, this is normally more prominent around the mouth and chin. It is extremely important NOT to force or pull at peeling skin, DO NOT pick the skin what so ever. This can lead to new hyperpigmentation, scaring or even infection. You will start to see results of the treatment at approximately 10-14 days with skin being visibly clearer and brighter, however redness can still be present. Your skin will appear healthier and start to develop a beautiful airbrushed appearance. From this point, as long as there is no open skin still present you may apply makeup, however most find they do not need to. Ongoing results will continue over the next month.
